Starting with Friday night...I went to my friend Terri's, who is a SU! Demonstrator. We made this cute stationary box pictured below that opens up and has compartments for stationary items.
Each box contains 3 cardlike compartments, 1 sleeve for stamps, a pen holder and a small notepad made with notebook paper. Below are the 3 cardlike items. Each compartment holds 3-4 of each item with envelopes if applicable. The first being a regular card, the second being a tag and the third a little note card.
On to Saturday...A Stone Patio - and yes, I layed all these stones by hand, one by one. This is an 8x8 patio outside the sliding glass door of our master bedroom. My Dad gave me these stones for FREE. He found them buried on the property of his new house he bought about 3 years ago. They need to be cleaned and bleached and cemented together, but you get the picture. Hard Work!!! The sliding glass door will eventually be a french door and the patio will have a cover and some furniture. I can't wait for the finished product.
and finally Sunday...Tiled Closet - I layed tile (no, not the real thing - peel and stick) in the 2 guest bedroom closets about a year ago and have been wanting to do the same to the master closet. Finally, I did! I have very small walk in closets, literally walk in and back out. You will see in the picture what I mean. I ripped out the old carpet, padding and tack strips to find old tile underneath that also had to be removed. The carpet didn't go all the way to the back of the closet. It stopped and the remainder was concrete slab (this is why I hated it). Now, I love it!
and then Organization...I dislike clutter and chaos. The chaos I can fix; the clutter is more difficult. My house is just not big enough for the clutter my husband and I have accumulated over the past couple of years. Since I had to remove clothes and shoes from the closet, I purged clothes that I haven't worn in years and of course ones that don't fit anymore :(. I also was able to part with several pairs of shoes that were broken or scuffed or dingy. Why in the world was I keeping them?
This last picture is my new brad and eyelet organizer complete with labels (yes, I am a dork!). I did alot of organization this weekend. I began with my crafting/stamping area; then onto the cabinet under my kitchen sink; then onto the utility room cabinets.
My weekend didn't stop with all these projects; We recycle so I had to crush and bag our aluminum cans that have piled up over the past 3 months and also had my regular household chores to complete...laundry, dishes, dinner, watering plants and flower beds, hauling trash, mowing and weed-eating. Whew! I'm ready for a break.
